  • Long Gone

I know it's been a while, but I'm not going to dwell on it. Nuff said.

The last few months have been a roller coaster. I'm really glad I like roller coasters! HA!

A week after my brother died, Ben was laid off. Yea, I know, Sucks! he was eligible for unemployment so that is something. We have no house payment or car payment so that is a blessing. Christmas was AMAZING. We were very blessed in many different ways. New year started off rocky, had a really good job lead and it fell through, that was disappointing. Feb was good, school refunds and taxes allowed the bank account to have a cushion and 16 Ann. was on the 20th, God gave us one more year together! March has been busy, Ben and the girls got through Mid-Terms, Anna was accepted into Who's-Who among American Middle School Students, and Alex had her 1st Choir Happening production and her 1st driving lessons. Been has been fighting Broncitis(sp?) but is finally healing. Our parents have been wonderful and encouraging about the job thing. They tell us just to concentrate on Ben finishing school (he should graduate in Dec of this year) and relax and don't stress. I'm VERY grateful!

So that's been life in a very small nut shell.

  • For those Concerned About Me and My Family...

For those of you concerned about me and my family, Thank you so much for your prayers they are very much needed right now.

For those of you who do not already know, we found out yesterday that my older brother, Brian Taylor, passed away yesterday morning. This was very sudden and unexpected so as you can imagine we are going though a lot right now. When praying please pray for my parents, they have lost a child and are doing the best they can right now. Please ask for rest, comfort and strength for them.

    Arrangements as of tonight are:

    Visitation 12:00pm-2:00pm Saturday November 8th
    Funeral 2:00pm Saturday November 8th
I believe all will be at Cranford's funeral home in White Hall
--THIS IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE--it has already changed once today

Again thank you ALL so much for your prayers and thoughts and love,

    Rebecca and Ben

  • School Starts

School is officially in full swing here. Up early, making sure everyone has what they need. Exhausting and EXPENSIVE! In the last 2 weeks we have shelled out major bucks I tell ya! Free public school my hinnie! I think the older the girls have gotten the more expensive. I will say that the girls being involved in Choir and Band doesn't help. T-shirts and dresses and shoes and gloves and pictures (Yes we have already had pictures for Band and Flagline taken) and everything else that goes with that. Then calculators for Algebra AND Geometry. Plus EVERY teacher wants a whole list of stuff for each class. Multiply 7 teachers by 2 kids, and YEAH WE ARE BROKE.  It's slowing down though.

Ben started school tonight. He should have started last night but he skiped to go to the High school open house. That was more important since it's alex's first year in HS. She likes it. She says it's a lot different but not a bad different. Anna is doing OK in 8th. Her BFF is at a different school this year and she is haveing a bit of a hard time adjusting. She misses her a lot.

I'm gearing up for AWANA we have our registeration night tomorrow night and we start next week. I have to finish going through all my stuff and reorganizing it. I had to move all of the Cubbies and Puggles stuff to a different storage room and my oganization is ALL messed up. I don't handle that well at all. I have to get in there and finish before we start or it will not be pretty. I have almost all of my leader books copied and I still have to copy the years activity pages and I have to put the teachers boxes in shape and........if I keep going I'm going to start stressing over all I have to do. That isn't good.

Ben and I seriously need a date. I am WAY to spoiled on date nights. I have AWESOME in laws who will just let the girls spend the night out of the blue. Result Ben and I have ALWAYS had plenty of us time. I don't think a healthy marriage can survive with out it. Anyway the girls haven't been anywhere for 3 weeks and I NEED a date. Yes the girls are old enough to stay home alone but sometimes a date needs to be longer than just dinner. Hopfully Friday will be date night.

Alex and Anna just had their 15th and 13th birthday party. It got me to remenessing so I'll leave you with these pictures:

  • The MID 30's

WoW three months this time. I really have to do better at this.

I was sitting here tonight reading everyone's updates and decided, since tomorrow is my Birthday, I would too.

Well, tomorrow will officially mark me entering my  MID Thirties.  My Mom asked me yesterday if I felt old, I told her "no not really". Then I back tracked and said "I only feel old when I think about how old the girls are" LOL! You see because tomorrow is also Anna's Birthday. She will be 13, and in 2 weeks Alex will be 15. THEN in a month Alex  will be starting HIGH SCHOOL!!!!!  at the same HS her Daddy and I attended and graduated from!  Just plain weirdness to think about.  Alex and I will go pick up her schedule and wander the halls that hold SO MANY memories for us, the good, bad AND the ugly! Time is flying. THAT is what makes me feel old. Not the number 34.

As for what has gone on with us in the last 3 MONTHS since my last update, I think bullet style is the best approach...

*April didn't see much going on Peggy and I went to the SoTT gathering at Gena's and got tattoos (Yes you read that right, See bottom of post!)

*May was BUSY! Graduations, end of year concerts, awards and in general no time for ANYTHING else! Both of our girls did amazing this school year. They collected several awards for music and academics.

*June is defined as VBS month. Ben and I had the honor of writing our VBS curriculum this year. SO stress was the name of the game until it was over. We did and Indiana Jones type theme called "The Ultimate Adventure" instead of Indiana Jones, our main character was called Arkansas Jefferson (Jefferson is the county we live in) We had our largest number of kids to date with 198 elementary age kids!! WOOHOO! Preschool had around 40! The Preschool also wrote their curriculum and it was awesome. It is really awesome to be able to not have to buy a curriculum. God has really blessed our Children Ministry (preschool and elem) with creativity to be able to do this. Cause trust me it ain't easy! That in a nut shell was June.

*July is just really getting started. Like I said before, tomorrow we have 2 birthday girls. And in 2 weeks we will have another. The girls want Rock Band for our Wii for their birthday and I told them that we really can't afford it. I told them if they were smart they would pool their Birthday money and if it wasn't enough Daddy and I would make up the difference. The girls go to camp at the end of the month. Then when August starts both start summer band rehearsals. Anna made flagline so she will start a little earlier than the rest of the Junior High Band.

OH and we have Church League Youth Softball all the month of July. We had our first games the week. Alex has NEVER played Softball before and the first game she was back catcher for the last two innings. I was so nervous! But she kind of got the hang of it and did OK.

So that's about it for the last 3 months. I hope you're all still with me! HAHA I may not post but I do get around and read most of you guys stuff everyday.

    Loves Much!
    This is my Tattoo!
It stands for Alex and Anna (my girls), you would be surprised how many people have asked if I was in AA. People who know me WELL and know my kids! I'm not gonna post Peggy's without her permission first.

  • Added stuff

Well I finally got around to posting pictures of last weeks snow. I managed to get some really good pictures of the girls. I took advantage of the natural background that you can't get at a photography studio and they turned out pretty good if I do say so myself. I'm going to get the enlarged for grandparents and myself.

And as crazy as southern weather is, it was in the 70's today! Wacky I tell ya!

Hummm...let's see... other goings on? Oh yeah, I threw my back out sunday afternoon! Pinched a nerve, got some good meds and I've been relaxing in my recliner since. So I jumped at the chance to get out of the house last night for AWANAs. I'm the Cubbies secretary so I don't have to move much and one of my wonderful  directors got me one of the nice rockers from the nursery to sit in. Between the comfy chair and  Flexaril AWANAs was GREAT! hahahaha Tonight we had a VBS planning meeting. VBS is going to be GREAT. We are writing our own curriculum, we're going to do an Indiana Jones type adventure theme. I'm so excited it going to be AWESOME!

I'm going to take it easy again tomorrow. It's really hard to get around and  walk so recliner for me tomorrow. Alex's band ensemble has regional contest tomorrow so she won't be home until around 8pm. But she is just happy she is getting out of school at noon.

Well life goes on for the Brantley clan, later gators!
